I’m quite glad that many hotels are refurbishing their rooms with modern furnitures and fixtures. Holiday Inn Express Hillsville is certainly on board: my room had a modern desk set, a futuristic touch control desk lamp, a reading nook with an overhead lamp in the corner, an LG TV, remote-controlled window shades, legion USB ports — in addition to the standard fares like a mini fridge, a microwave, and a safe. More importantly, this was a fantastic value for the cost, and it hit all the right spots: quiet, clean, comfortable (I slept like a king on a king size bed), and nice staff. Great lodgings for respite if one happens to be driving the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Unexpectedly excellent breakfast - as good as we had all week - looked after by a wonderful lady. Nice room with good facilities and decent wifi. Comfortable and quiet.
